Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week: Growing Talent at Seriös Group

National Apprenticeship Week (10th–14th February 2025) highlights the benefits apprenticeships bring to individuals, businesses, and the wider economy. At Seriös Group, we are proud to support apprenticeships across various career pathways, including Data, Testing, Management, and Marketing.

We’ve seen first-hand the impact they have, offering individuals the chance to retrain, gain on-the-job experience, and build a career while being guided by expert mentors. As a company, we benefit from nurturing and retaining top talent, and seeing our apprentices grow. With valuable hands-on experience, strong industry connections, and a wide range of skills, Seriös Group is an excellent place to start or advance your career.

We caught up with Data & Technology Solutions Apprentice, Miikael, and Digital Marketing Apprentices, Mia, to hear about their experiences so far, the skills they’ve developed, and what they’ve enjoyed most.

Miikael Puusepp – Level 6 Data & Technology Solutions Apprentice

“I first joined Seriös Group in 2022 as a Level 3 Data Technician Apprentice with Baltic Apprenticeships. It took 18 months to complete including my End Point Assessment, where I achieved a Distinction, the highest grade possible, and I got a strong foundation of skills and knowledge in the data space.

During my search for a Degree Apprenticeship, I gained further experience working as a full-time Data Tester at Seriös Group for a year. In July 2024, I began my Level 6 Data & Technology Apprenticeship with QA, allowing me to refine and expand the knowledge and skills I’d developed over the past two years.

Throughout my time at Seriös Group, I’ve enjoyed learning languages like SQL and Python and developing my proficiency with tools like Tableau. The team has been incredibly supportive, always offering help when needed. One of the key challenges I’ve embraced as an apprentice is balancing my workload, and I appreciate that Seriös Group gives me the flexibility to manage my time effectively between my workplace responsibilities and apprenticeship tasks.

Beyond technical skills, I’ve also had the chance to take part in Seriös Group’s charitable initiatives. I’ve completed the Great North Run for St Oswald’s Hospice and the Eagles Foundation, taken part in the Williams Ali Basketball Challenge, and Tough Mudder alongside my colleagues.

Looking ahead, I aim to complete my apprenticeship in summer 2027, and I’m excited to continue growing my skills and gaining new experiences at Seriös Group.”

Mia Thornton – Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprentice

“I started my Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship at Seriös Group in March 2024 and will complete it in September 2025. Throughout my apprenticeship, I’ve taken on a range of activities that have helped my understanding of the business by reviewing its vision, goals and objectives to decide what types of marketing activity would be most beneficial.

I’ve gained hands-on experience in social media management, event planning, content creation, website management, and performance analysis, working alongside marketing specialists who have helped me develop my marketing skills. I work with different teams across the business, broadening my knowledge of the data and tech space.

Seriös Group has provided invaluable support throughout my journey with my manager supporting me with direction and workload management, to my mentors Charlie, Head of Product, and Miikael, both helping me to understand the business and learn from their experiences.

I’m also an Apprentice Ambassador for the Northeast Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (NEAAN), which I joined in October 2024. As part of this initiative, I attend monthly meetings to promote apprenticeships and have represented Seriös Group at events like the Tees Valley EDI Awards.

I’m excited to continue developing my skills in Marketing with the support of Seriös Group and look forward to the opportunities ahead.”
